  ostriches .
• APTERA
  It?s a place very close to Kalives, where you can admire a medieval castle, dominating the entrance of the gulf of Souda, with a wonderful view.
  A little bit further there are the ruins of an ancient city ,with a temple devoted to the ancient Greek Goddess Dimitra.
  In the same area you can also visit the ruins of a roman theatre and the roman water towers.
• KOURNAS LAKE
  It is the only lake in Crete, a place of incomparable beauty.
  You can enjoy a drink or a meal in the restaurants around it, or you can just paint it!
• ARGYROUPOLI
  WATER is everywhere!!!!!! Streams, small waterfalls, fountains?Just the sound of it fills your heart with peace; even in the hottest day of summer the coolness and freshness of this place makes you feel wonderful.
• ALMIRIDA
  About 5km from Kalives, a pitoresque littoral village, with a lot of restaurants by the seaside.
